Probably the Most Sustainable Office in the World: How FlexOffice and myclimate are raising the bar.
What makes an office truly sustainable? At FlexOffice JED, we believe it’s about more than just energy efficiency or clever design—it’s about going the extra mile. Our latest collaboration with myclimate is a step in that direction, transforming a building already celebrated for its innovation into something even better.
The JED Building: A Climate-Friendly Powerhouse
Let’s start with what makes JED special. Built using the 22·26 principle, it maintains a perfect indoor climate—without heating, air conditioning, or traditional ventilation. Massive walls double as insulation and thermal storage, while smart systems ensure consistent temperature and air quality. Add to that solar panels and climate-friendly materials, and you’ve got a building that’s already ahead of the curve.
But we knew there were still emissions to address. And that’s where myclimate came in.
Quantifying the Impact
With myclimate’s help, we dug into every aspect of FlexOffice JED’s operations and construction to pinpoint CO₂ emissions. While the 22·26 principle eliminates emissions from heating and cooling, there are unavoidable contributors:
- Building construction
- Workspace fit-out
- Utilization (coffee, electricity, paper).
Using these insights, we assigned a CO₂ footprint to every office space. The result? A fully transparent climate contribution embedded into every service contract.
A Community-Driven Solution
What happens to these contributions? At the end of the year, they’re pooled and reinvested into impactful climate protection projects through Myclimate. But here’s the twist: the JED community gets to vote on which project to support, making sustainability a shared mission.
Want to go further? Members can opt to double or quintuple their contributions, earning silver or gold FlexOffice Sustainability Badges in the process.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about offsetting emissions; it’s about setting a new standard. FlexOffice JED combines architectural innovation, operational efficiency, and a community-driven approach to sustainability. It’s proof that offices can do more than house businesses—they can actively contribute to the planet’s future.
